Quality and privacy

We use FFmpeg on the server for processing. Files are placed in isolated temporary storage and deleted automatically after one hour. When an operation can copy an existing audio stream, we identify it instead of claiming an unnecessary re-encode is lossless.

Frequently asked questions

Will compressing my audio reduce the quality?
Some quality loss is unavoidable once you reduce the bitrate, but our presets are tuned to keep audio sounding clean at each size. The Best Quality preset keeps loss minimal; Smallest File trades more quality for a much smaller file.
How does 'target size' compression work?
We measure your file's duration with ffprobe, then calculate the highest bitrate that keeps the output under your chosen size, accounting for container overhead.
What file formats can I compress?
MP3, WAV, FLAC, AAC, M4A, OGG, OPUS and AIFF are all supported as input.
